Team 84 Ann & Lynn

Ann and Lynn make up team 84 on this years Italian Job making up part of 'Team Mini Mad Merseyside' with Paul & Jeanette (Team 82) and Phil & Emma (Team 83)

Here driver Ann, tells you a little about the background to their car Mulder and their newly formed team.

At the moment Team 84 is made up of myself, Ann Smith, and Lynn Mitchell - Chris, my other half, is on the "bench".

I have done the "job" 3 times before (a "black hatter"), '95, '96 and '97.

Last year Paul and Jeannette (Team 82) persuaded me to take part in this year's special anniversary event and my oldest friend Lynn said she'd like to join me.

Lynn is the reason I got interested in minis in the first place.  She passed her driving test before I did and her dad gave her a mini clubman - which we went everywhere in.

This was back in the early '80's, but I didn't get my first mini - a K reg special edition Italian Job until 1992.  Once I had the car I had to go on the rally!!!

I've known Phil and Emma for a long time and am a member of the same mini club.  I can remember their first Italian Job, as it was my first time as well....
I've known Paul and Jeannette since they joined Minimad and last year they marshalled at the British Grand Prix with Chris and I.

I'm really looking forward to this year's "job".  As well as being with my good friends in teams 82 & 83, I'm looking forward to seeing old friends in Trento as well.
In '95 I got snowed in, in the Alps, on my way to Trento, just making the deadline!!

In '96 I got shunted by a french car in Beauvais - on my way back to Dieppe - and ended up in a French hospital with a compressed vertebrae (I discharged myself though and was rescued by another "jobber" - Fidoe).

So in '97 I got another mini - an N reg charcoal grey mini cooper - and a new navigator, my long suffering and understanding husband Chris.  We also took our daughter Emily with us (she slept through most it though!!).

So I'm taking "Mulder" - the mini cooper again, as I had to sell the Italian Job mini.  It's still a pretty good runner but needs a bit of cosmetic work doing.  This summer I'm treating it to some new doors.
